15. Types Of Exterior Siding Materials For Your House

from:

If you are considering a home construction or improvement project, you should know that nothing will impact the exterior appearance of your house more dramatically and more decisively, than the exterior siding you use. If you are shopping for exterior siding materials, you should find the one that suits your needs, the style of your house and of course your personal style. Here are the most commonly used, popular and safe exterior sidings for your house:

Stucco Siding: Stucco has always been a popular and dependable solution for homes. It is usually combined with water and other materials such as limestone or sand. Although several versions of stucco materials are available in the market, the original and traditional stucco is considered to be the best option, unless you opt for a high quality synthetic type of stucco. In any case, if you tint the stucco the way you prefer, you will not need to repaint any time soon.

Cement Fiber: Cement fiber siding is a very versatile and useful material. It can actually have the looks of many different materials, such as wood or stucco. It is a reliable and durable solution and offers a natural look to your house. The main advantage of this material is that it can provide the looks of a high end material with less maintenance and in a more affordable way. Not many people can afford masonry or authentic wood siding, but cement fiber can offer a great alternative. This material is fire and termite proof and in most cases it comes with a warranty of up to forty years.

Brick Veneer Siding: Brick veneer is supposed to be expensive, but it is a very good looking option. It is made of clay and comes in a variety of colors, schemes and sizes. It is highly desirable, durable and needs minimum maintenance. It is one of the siding materials that add a touch of warmth and style to your house.

Stone and Stone Veneer: Stone is, of course, one of the most durable building materials. There are numerous different types of stone veneer sidings such as limestone, granite or slate and many more. They are both durable and beautiful and they range from quite affordable to very expensive varieties. Stone veneers of high quality are usually quite genuine looking, but if you opt for something very cheap you might get a rather artificial look.

Vinyl Siding: Vinyl siding became very popular a few years ago, due to its durability and low price. It is easy to install and can last for many years, if you are living in an area with mild climate. It is not recommended for very warm or very cold areas. Lately, it has raised some controversy, due to environmental concerns.

In any case, prior to any decision, make sure that you take a series of elements under consideration such as region, climate, style, budget, personal preference. The type of siding you choose should accentuate the character and design of your house.
