Painting supplies, what do you need besides a brush and a bucket of paint? You may not realize it, but there are many great tools that you should be using while you are getting ready to paint. They may your job easier. They also make the finished project more professional looking. Most of the time, you do not have to spend a lot of money to get just what you need, and affordably so.

Painting Supplies

The following are some of the painting supplies you may need for your next project.

Drop cloths: Use these to cover up areas where you do not want paint to be splattered. You do not have to buy a drop cloth if you have a large enough sheet that you do not mind getting paint on.

Paint Trays: These help you to hold the paint while you apply it to a roller. There are disposable products on the market, or you can purchase a rather inexpensive plastic version and use it many times over.

Masking Tape or Painters Tape: Either option is good. These are applied to the edges of surfaces you do not want to paint, such as along the ceiling, the floor, light fixtures and window frames. This type of tape removes easily, without pulling off the actual paint or varnish on these surfaces.

Scraper and putty knife: You will need these to remove old paint from the walls.

Patching compound: If you have any holes in your walls, you can patch them using this product. You will need to apply it, allow it to dry, sand it smooth and then use a flat paint to prime the area before painting it.

Sandpaper: Helpful in removing paint from walls.

In addition to these painting supplies, you may also want to consider cleaning supplies. There are wall cleaner products on the market you can use, along with a sponge, to wash down the wall prior to painting. You may also want to use a towel or rag to dust off and clean off the walls.

Painting Tools

Now that you have some of the painting supplies you will need, you also need to consider items like paint brushes, rollers, and paint sprayers. Any and all of these products are a good investment. You definitely need to invest in brushes to do most of your trim work. Rollers are some of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to apply paint to the walls. Paint sprayers are a good investment for larger areas.

These painting supplies are often must haves. They help you to create a finished project that looks great while still making the process fast, affordable and professional quality. All of these painting supplies can be found at your local hardware store.
